James Warhol?

By way of Flavorwire

James Franco seems to be everywhere these days, on soap operas, on sitcoms and in the art world.  Here is an interesting post by way of Flavorwire, the arts and culture wing of Flavorpill that dares ask…Is James Franco the next Warhol?

Louis Vuitton Art, Fashion and Architecture

Happy New Year!!!  For my first post of the year, have a look at the Louis Vuitton Art, Fashion and Architecture book by way of our friends at Cool Hunting.  Coincidentally, I saw the book at a friend’s the other night for dinner and loved it.  I guess what I love is not the book in question which is definitely worth purchasing but more the fact that LV has had all of these collaborations over the years.  I have always been a proponent of the intermingling of  the luxury world and the arts and so as you can imagine this is totally up my alley.

The word collaboration has come up a lot recently in my work.  The idea that creatives can come together and make something truly spectacular is to me something very special.  It shows a lack of ego and an open mindedness that says that anything is possible, all we have to do is start the conversation and who knows where we can end up.

This is a great book, and not only because of the content but of the message it sends.  To get a copy head over to amazon.

The Heights of Summer by Tiffany Stevens

The Heights of Summer by Tiffany Stevens

The film The Royal Tenenbaums is set in a not unusual fairytale
version of Manhattan. It’s always slightly worn, incredibly romantic,
(yet substantive), and gorgeous in a true sense. Awe and lightness
enlarge by the wonder of it all and it just overwhelms. Wes Anderson
and Woody Allen create this magical place so convincingly, who among
us can say that they’ve never searched for, nay, *ahem* moved to the
city on the belief it existed, or at least looked for some piece of
it?

Given up on that mythical, magical Manhattan after too many Dog Day
Afternoons? Not yet! For a $2.00 metrocard, you can ride the A train
to a Manhattan full of art, culture, history, mellowness (!), and
natural beauty that will amaze even the most jaded part of yourself.

Slimane Out from Dior Homme

An era is over for Dior but maybe it’s a good thing for Slimane and well for us…Hedi Slimane has been fired from Dior Homme and is being replaced by Kris Van Assche his former team mate at YSL and then Dior Homme. In 2005 Van Assche left to create his own label and has been in talks since last summer with Dior to replace Slimane.

Slimane is said to be looking for an investor for his signature label which would include women’s wear and possibly home furnishings.
