Well its official, Pinault’s newly acquired Dogana in Venice is open for business. In order to make it exhibition ready, Tadao Ando’s team was able to renovate the interior by removing 400 years worth of partitions and interior walls. For the occasion, Pinault commissioned 6 new works including works by Mark Handforth and Charles Ray. A rendering of the Prada Transfomer’s latest incarnation.
Prada’s Transformer structure is morphing to exhibit a new show in Seoul. “Turn Into Men” is the work of Swedish artist Nathalie Djurberg and will be up from Aug. 15 through Sept. 13. For more: WWD: Prada Transformer Exhibits ‘Turn Into Men’ Installation

At first I was going to talk about the beautiful Peacock Chair that I saw this morning by way of Selectism. Then I looked up Studio Dror and checked out their site. Studio Dror is the team behind a great line of collapsible shoes called Skins Footwear.
I look at architectural firms and design firms all the time but, I rarely find anyone whose work I find this beautiful. My favorite is their Eco House, have a look. Also have a look at their line for Target…did someone say shopping list?
Yes, I know that sounds odd but some of the most intelligent pieces of architecture that I’ve seen used shipping containers. Now, I’m sorry I didn’t post this sooner but here is another interesting piece of architecture that uses shipping containers in the New York Times. It seems that Roger Black’s Hamptons retreat is actually in Texas! Not bad….

I was saddened to hear of the passing of the mischievous yet talented Dash Snow a couple of days ago. My heart goes out to his sister Caroline and their family. I have been reading as all of the blogs and news outlets online have been describing the artist, how beloved he was by the art community and how he died.
